Bath

Bath is known for hot springs, the Romans, and its Georgian terraces and fine buildings. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site on two counts. But Bath existed in between the Romans and the Georgians as a monastic and cathedral centre, a textile town and a local market centre. Chester

Founded as the Roman legionary fortress of Deva, Chester became the most important Anglo-Saxon seaport town of the North-west. Testament to this are its surviving buildings, especially the unique Rows, stretching along the main four streets of the city.
