Are you interested in volunteering for a small but dynamic charity? Do you have a passion for history and an interest in sharing fascinating stories about the past with a wider public? Are you interested in maps, cartography and protecting our nations’ heritage? If so, you would be perfect for a volunteer role at the Historic Towns Trust.

We are looking for volunteers to help us realise our mission to map towns and cities across England, Scotland and Wales and engage a wider public with the histories of our urban centres.

As the Historic Towns Trust grows as an organisation we are becoming more and more involved with outreach activities, educational work, events and have accelerated the rate of maps being published.

As a volunteer you will work closely with our staff and Trustees to deliver various projects or help us with our core work. We will give a great volunteer experience that promises to be varied, always interesting and incredibly rewarding. You will be able to volunteer 100% remotely, there are no fixed hours and we can be flexible to your availability.

Here are a few examples of the work our volunteers could be involved with:

-        Social media and comms volunteer: this role will focus on managing our social media output and general comms

-        Admin support role: this role will assist with the organisation of events and the minuting of meetings

-        Activity specific roles: assigned to researching and developing a specific project

-        Fundraising support: help with our fundraising endeavours
